Pleased to meet you. I'm Aly King-Smith.
I'm Aly and I've just celebrated twelve years leading a profitable coaching consultancy, and twenty years as an Executive Coach. Before that I was a sales leader in the world of biotech & vaccines..and before that an NHS physiotherapist! Quite the journey to today.
I staggered initially into part-time self-employment as a real scaredy cat, and took ages to find my courage and freelance identity. Now in 2025, it feels like the right time to support the business growth of the next generation of coaches. The world needs coaches to succeed, now more than ever.
Associate, side hustle, B2C and full-time B2B since 2013, I've tried them all at some time, made many mistakes, celebrated some huge successes and learned a load of lessons. I'm "vintage" enough to have made it through the 2008 economic crash in a small coaching business, and I did it first as a single mum, then on the ragged edge of raising four teens. It's not an easy feat. I can't promise all bells and nice smells.
Having thought so much of it was random luck, I am now understanding the systems and processes that have contributed to my success, and identified some of the ways my former sales career serves me too. I can help you explore the ways that have worked for me, and find (or polish up) your own, to find your own version of success.
The Business Club at A Listening Life™ is built using all I've learned from my own journey as a Sales Leader and later as a Coach; and the combined wisdom I've collected from conversations with successful peers and colleagues who've gone before. Am I tied in to ongoing fees?
No - You simply sign up (and pay) in advance for one session at a time
Will this replace coaching supervision?
No - This is specifically focused on business only and isn't intended to replace your personal development as a coach practitioner.
What happens in the calls?
The Group Mentoring Call comprises: Brief input/teaching on a topic by Aly, with a stimulus to apply to your own business; Q&A Discussion; Peer Coaching; Personal accountability setting with timelines.
The session is led using the principals of safe, equitable, curious coaching spaces. Everyone will be heard and you'll be going away with clear actionable steps to take to support your business development.
When are the calls?
The Group Mentoring Call is usually on the last Friday of the month. This is subject to change by agreement.
Can I speak to Aly, to help me decide whether it's for me?

I've done a lot of work already on finding my niche. Is this still worth it?
Definitely yes. If you have a great niche or don't want one, our conversations can help you decide on your next steps and focus areas to turbo-charge your previous work
Will it start straight away?
Once we have received your application we will be in touch with information about start dates. You will be offered the next available place.
How will I pay?
You will be sent a link to make automatic payment, along with the cancellation Ts & Cs.
What will I get for my money?
You'll certainly feel more supported to work and think in trust. You'll leave with new ideas to action immediately, accountability, and connections with peers.
You can also expect to have more free-flowing ideas, concrete actions and direct results from new approaches.
You'll have more focus in your target audience or a clearer branding stance, so people know who you are and how you can help.
You will also have more confidence in your marketing direction, and some new ways to look at selling that feel more comfortable and congruent. You may choose to create a product from your services that feels easier to talk about with clients.

Can I work with Aly 1:1 instead?
Aly is often open to working 1:1 instead of the group and is happy to discuss this bespoke work. However we do believe in the huge benefit of a cohort and would encourage you to view the group as an introductory step in any case. This allows you to see if you get along with Aly's approach before making a greater commitment, and allows Aly to understand more about your situation before recommending whether it feels like a match. Like a chemistry session with goals, if you like..
